The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is a public university that offers a wide range of degree programs to its students. It is considered to be a great place for graduations after a thorough education. The staff at UTC has been praised for being incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the process of enrolling and transferring. The art department has earned a reputation for having dedicated professors who push their students to excel and learn. The campus also boasts beautiful architecture, with a unique logo that includes a misspelling. UTC is known for its relatively small class sizes and big school atmosphere. Students love attending sporting events and cheering on their hometown Mocs. Overall, UTC is a fantastic option for anyone seeking a quality education and an enjoyable college experience.

NOT A SAFE PLACE TO BE!! second time getting handed a trespass notification over yet again something i didn't do. it's sad how they think their students would never lie to them. yes, they do have an honor code, but it seems to not apply to majority of their students. you're more likely to catch a charge for something you didn't do than graduate from here. Admins told me to get my trespassing removed i would have to become a student there. No way i'll ever go to a school with this many problems. This college is based on favoritism and how much money you have!!
To add on to this: their police are equally as smart as a mall cop, write on the papers they hand you light as can be so you can’t see what they wrote on your copy (but they can see it plain as day on their copy to keep you clueless which is against law), and will 1,000% harass you when their body cams are not on.
Wonderful location in an excellent city/state. I attended from 1979 - 1982. Met a lot of students that we still share and reminisce the days when we were students. Great academics and a nice campus. Lots to do away from campus without driving far. It was great to see the university decades later. There are changes all over campus vs when i attended. Needless to say it was a great weekend trip.
I just got accepted here and have had a hard time getting all my paperwork and transfer info together but the staff has been absolutely amazing and so helpful throughout it all! Very excited to finally be at a school that seems to care and value their students! Also Linda in the bursars office is amazing and so kind!
I graduated from UTC back in 2019. The campus, city, and outdoors is why you come to UTC. They are all beautiful. However, once you look on the inside is when you find the bad. I never felt like i had any good professors who truly cared about their students except for two. The administrative side is a nightmare; constantly being transferred to another person or department, often times talking to someone who is annoyed because you called. The college DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, only your money and they will do everything they can to exploit it. The best part on the inside of UTC is the maintenance and food court staff. They know students by name and make sure you are doing okay, unlike professors and advisors. Its a great place to be on the outside until you start going to class or trying to solve an administrative problem.
Great place for graduations after a very through education. Many degrees offered.
Great college with Restaurants all around the campus and Law enforcement cameras and good Security guards.... And very Peaceful and fun and its Downtown where most our events in Chattanooga, Tennessee takes place
I am currently a art student at UTC. I really do feel that the professors and the staff in the art department have only their students best interest at heart. They push us to see beyond our main focus, to make us push ourselves harder. They push us to learn. These amazing professors at UTC give their students every opportunity to succeed, but it is up to us to grab a hold of that opportunity. I really enjoy the art program and all the students, professors and staff in the UTC art department.
If I could give this school zero stars, I would. This University is a full on corporation. They do not care about students one bit. All they care about is the money. Most of the teachers really do not want to be there and the staff(bursars, finaid, VA, etc..) are not on the same page. They do not seem to have any information about anything, even though the job they were hired for is to be able to provide that information.
I have two separate experiences with this place. First, I applied to use my VA benefits, I think in 2013. The lady gave me an excuse about, since I was Pre-Business I couldn't get it. So I had to withdraw. The next year I applied and I was able to use it with no problem. So I basically had to postpone going to school because someone lied or just didn't care to do the proper research.
Second, this year, 2016. I started school for the spring and I decided I was going to go ahead and take out loans to finish school. So, I took out a loan to pay for books and tuition. I was waiting for my check, because we were heading into the 3rd week of school and I needed my books. So I called the Bursars and Finaid office. Bursars told me that they automatically add the loan to the tuition. I said, are books not a part of tuition and the girl said yes, but I think you would have to talk to the bookstore about that. Worng! So, I went and withdrew from my classes again and filled out the proper forms to decline the loan. Then, I went onto my loan account and realized UTC had taken some money out of the loan I declined to pay for the classes I had already withdrew from. School is an embarrassment and now I have to find another school outside of the city to attend.
